Project Overview
In July of 2002, the Authority issued $7,000,000 in tax-exempt industrial revenue bonds on behalf of Advanced Drainage Systems, Inc (ADS) to construct a new 55,000 sq. ft. facility on 25 acres at the Mendota Business Park on US Route 34 off Interstate 39 in Mendota, IL to manufacture high density pollyethelyne drainage pipe. ADS consolidated operations to one location in Mendota, Illinois. The total project is $7,000,000 and created 90 jobs. Advanced Drainage Systems, Inc., a privately held Delaware corporation established in 1967, is a manufacturer of high density pollyethelyne drainage pipe. The company’s initial product line of three to ten inch diameter corrugated polyethelene pipe replaced clay tile as the dominant product used by the agriculture industry for subsurface drainage. In 1987, ADS introduced a two part pipe with a smooth interior and corrugated exterior for use in storm sewer drainage systems competing directly with concrete pipe and corrugated metal pipe. The company is headquartered in Hilliard, Ohio and has 21 manufacturing facilities in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ms, Florida, Georgia,, California, Washington, Utah, Texas, Iowa and Kentucky.
